Density can be achieved by layering several passes in a thin area of the scalp to give the illusion of thicker hair. Normally density is reserved for men and women who have a head full of hair, but they are thinning in certain areas which need to be blended. Density can be achieved in some cases without cutting the hair down, but native follicles must be evenly dispersed throughout the scalp. In the event that the hair is too thin and the scalp is showing, it is standard to cut your hair down to the skin in order to give the most natural blending.
